This projects has a custom Cor-ten elevated steel entrance over boulders bracketing the driveway. Cor-ten (a588) weathering steel acquires a beautiful rust patina that darks with age which preserves the structure- no paint, no maintenance. Metal grating for the platform allows for viewing of the boulders and rock garden beneath the walkway. An added benefit of the metal grating is snow and dirt readily falls through keeping Mom's house extra clean.

The relocated entrance now skirts the house leading to the front door and terraced patio on the steep hillside. This newly excavated patio area on a 30% slope is hardscaped with a dry stacked retaining wall constructed with native moss rocks and local granite, Cor-ten steel steps, integrated lighting accents, as well as a subpanel for a future sauna installation.
